World of Warcraft Paladin Guide

Wow Ultimate GuideIn order to help you better understand this amazing and popular class, we have written this World of Warcraft Paladin Guide. We truly hope it will help you better understand and control this Wow character class.

While not as traditional as the mage and warrior classes, the paladin class has also been an icon for many fantasy games already. They are usually a noble class and are often called as “Warriors of Light” for their skills and methods of fighting are centered on the forces of light and all that is holy. Paladins are advocates of good and defenders of the weak as much as they are the sworn enemy of all that is evil and unholy, especially the undead.

In most games Paladins are viewed as natural born leaders, being able to front their comrades in battle by not only being sturdy warriors in themselves but also fortifying their allies with necessary buffs and healing spells as well as supplying auras that can help them win against the toughest of foes.

This guide will show you that the classic Paladin remains true to its name in the World of Warcraft and will provide an overview of what this class has in store for the Paladin fans that will play the game.

Who is the Paladin?

The Paladin class is available to the following races: Dwarves, Humans, Draenei, Blood Elves.

The thing about Paladins is that they can actually tank AND support – two roles that are normally expected to do be had by two different characters of different classes – at the same time. While the Paladin may not be as good a healer as a Shaman or a buffer as a friend, there are lots of benefits that come by the fact alone that they are available from just one character. Paladins can potentially actually tank, deal heavy DPS, buff party members, and debuff enemies all at the same time!

Paladin Abilities

Paladins feature a wide range of ability types, namely: auras, blessings, hands, judgments, seals and heals.

Auras are magical enchantments that Paladins “wear” on themselves to achieve a particular effect (i.e. Retribution Aura’s damage return or Devotion Aura’s bonus armor), applying not only to himself but to party members within a 30 yard radius as well. This is technically and easy buff for all players.

It is important to note, however, that while there are lots of auras a Paladin can have, only one can be activated at a time. Furthermore, auras cannot be switched instantly because of the global cooldown on all auras every time an aura is activated, so don’t use this to instantly adapt to particular battles. Use auras more as a consistent buff that you bring to most battles.

Blessings are also buffs, but are different from auras in a way that while they only last for 10 minutes (30 minutes for Greater Blessings) they are more ideal for instantly adapting buffs for every situation because they can be cast instantly. Like auras, however, only one type of blessing can be cast by a Paladin on the same target (meaning blessings of the same type don’t stack, but they can go together with other blessings cast by other Paladins). These short term buffs are generally useful everywhere in WoW.

Hands are similar to blessings, but they don’t last as long, so players opt to cast them when they are needed. Hands can, however, stack with blessings, though not with other hands. For example, Hand of Salvation reduces the threat of the target by 2% per second for 10 seconds.

Judgments are spells that Paladins cast on enemy targets so that anyone who attacks that target will acquire a positive effect. An example would be the Judgment of Light, which gives any ally who strikes the target of the judgment a chance to heal a certain amount of health.

Like auras, blessings, and hands, only one type of judgment can be cast upon a target by a Paladin at the same time, so you will need two Paladins if you want the same enemy to suffer two different judgment effects.

Seals are buffs as well, but can only be cast upon the Paladin himself, which then gives hima bonus effect on his attacks. They are like blessings – they don’t last long (instant cast for 30 seconds) nor can they be used together with other seals. One such seal is the Seal of Justice, which gives a chance to stun upon attack.

Heals, simply enough, are spells used by Paladins to restore health to a target, a group of targets, or upon himself. Alternatively, some heals can also be used to deal holy damage to an enemy.

One way or another all the abilities that a Paladin may acquire would fall under these general categories. For any Paladin to be effective in its role one must choose the proper combination of these abilities based on every situation and not just mix and match these skills randomly.
