Training your Druid

At this point it is important to note that taking the druid class is probably best only AFTER you have familiarized yourself with the nature of World of Warcraft. This is because if you don’t accustom yourself with the parent classes first, you will definitely be confused with the direction you intend to take with the hybrid druid class. In other words, it might work better for most players to know the basics first of parent classes before venturing into the basics of hybrid classes.

With that said, two important things to consider in leveling up your druid would be (1) equipment and (2) talent builds. These two have to be considered in relation to one another and not one at a time, which will be pointed out more later on.

Technically, the starting stages of a druid are difficult because there are no reliable abilities that can help gain experience, save few healing spells. Low level druids will have little mana and low physical damage. Even quests will be tougher compared to when you were a mage or warrior. But still, doing newbie quests will still be the best bet for any newbie druid. Once you make level 10, the usefulness of druid spells will become more apparent.

The next consideration would be both equipment and builds. But why decide at the same time? This is because the chosen build will affect the necessary equipment for the druid to become effective in his or her role. While there are many builds in between, the skills of a druid dictate the general builds that could be done:

  • Balance druids focus on Balance skills and will be casting magic like mages most of the time.
  • Feral druids will be either in bear or cat forms and will be alternately using their respective skills in battle from time to time.
  • Restoration druids take either the tree or life form and will focus on restorative magic.
  • Hybrid druids are those builds that take a little bit from the ones above. An important tip to remember here is to never lose direction of the chosen build, otherwise one would end up spreading talent points thinly, making an ineffective druid overall.

The natural consequence of making a choice build is the equipment and stats required. While both the Restoration and Balance builds are mage-like in nature and will therefore need mana, Restoration druids will require more of the Spirit stat as much as Balance druids will need Intelligence. For Feral druids battle inclined equipment are a must and will usually require both Agility and Strength, which can be adjusted to the player’s taste.

From here the player can start making decisions on building his or her druid character. With the help of easily accessible advanced druid guides, one can make up a druid that fights like no other player would expect to encounter in battle as well as be able to cope in unexpected situations – a valuable asset to be found in a druid, especially in groups.
