Warcraft Gold Guide (page 1)
So how do we get all that stuff you need to
sell? The easiest way is to pick up a profession and start
crafting all the stuff that other players will definitely
want to buy from you. This is a more ideal way of
gathering gold for beginners because you don’t need much
money for capital, as opposed to buying stuff and
reselling them at a higher price where you need lots of
money to buy rare items first in order to have something
to sell. Furthermore, while rare items are expensive, they
are not always as in demand as the items crafted out of
professions, making the latter a more constant source of
income.
For primary professions, players can choose between the
three gathering professions, mining, skinning and herbalism.
For secondary professions we have fishing and cooking. While
you will need a little money to learn these professions, you
should have enough from quests and monsters when you reach
level 5 (which is the required character level for getting
professions).

Furthermore, you will also continue to gather gold while you
gather items needed for crafting from monster, so you really
won’t have problems with earning money for leveling your
professions up.
Note: If you’re serious about earning gold, you might want
to avoid the other professions not mentioned above for now,
since they cost gold rather than earn as they level up.
Here’s a list of the stuff that other players will want to
buy from each of the professions:
Mining – almost all the stuff you mine at early levels are
in demand. Copper can be sold while ores are in high demand at
auction houses.
Herbalism – stack up on herbs and sell them. Just take note
that the demand on herbs vary per server.
Skinning –items gathered at early levels sell fairly, but
it’s the 300+ level products that really bring in the cash, so
you might have to be a little more patient with this
profession.
Fishing – fish sell fairly, but focus more on the ones that
are required for recipes for other professions like Alchemy and
Cooking.
Cooking – food that give buffs are always in demand. This
works well with fishing because, obviously, fishing can be used
for cooking too.
Last Notes:
• Don’t forget to invest on bags, and make it a goal to
max out your Frostweave bags. The more you can carry between
the gathering area and the market once, the more efficient you
are.
• Sell everything you can loot from monsters that you
won’t make use of such as unwanted armor and other grey stuff.
They may sell little at first, but all that extra cash gets a
lot bigger in the long run.
• Watch out for white items and other valuable items you
might come across. Instead of selling them to merchants, sell
them to other players for higher prices.
• Don’t be afraid to put a higher price on your collected
items. While it’s not smart to overprice your items, don’t sell
them for bottom price, because they are always in demand no
matter what.
While there are other guides that will promise you more gold
in less than an hour (or something to that effect), this one
will make sure you will always have gold to let you go through
the game. Eventually, you’ll get all the gold you need to buy
those expensive end game costs just like everybody else.
