Paladin Builds

Like all other characters, the general builds of a Paladin are based on a focus of one of the three talent trees. But because of the wide range of skills and effects that a Paladin can acquire, it could be that two builds use mainly the same ability but for the purpose of achieving different effects. For example, both Protection and Retribution Paladins may opt to use the Retribution Aura in their main arsenal. So what’s important to know in order to distinguish these builds from one another is to know what their purposes are.

Protection Paladins are those that maximize their tanking and DPS capabilities, making a great warrior within that character that deals massive hand-to-hand combat damage, especially in crowds. Use spells like Holy Shield, Consecration, and Retribution Aura to buff up your damage potential.

Retribution Paladins are somewhat like the protection build, except they are better off fighting one-on-one battles as opposed to the latter which deal well with crowds. But because this type of Paladin rely on some reflective damage (meaning you have to take a hit in order to hit even more), their performance may fluctuate from time to time.

Holy Paladins are focused more on healing, maximizing their ability to restore health not only to themselves but to others as well. They also rely on the holy damage they inflict on enemies by casting spells. The only downside is that most players would rather opt for a priest or shaman if they will want healers anyway, so Holy Paladins could be better off as a sub-build to the first two.
