World of Warcraft Priest
Guide
Start your Priest character on the right
track by reading our World of Warcraft Priest
Guide.
Priests, being servants of a particular deity and believers
of the way of life based on a certain spirituality, are
individuals who have the ability to master the divine forces
and thus control the strongest of restorative and light magic,
allowing them to heal and relieve their allies of ailments with
utmost consistency and precision than any other class in any
fantasy game.
The principles and concepts of the priest class in World of
Warcraft remain the same as other role-playing games, but they
possess certain original characteristics such as Shadow Magic,
which will be discussed later.
And because WoW has its own idea of what the priest class
should be, this guide covers the basics of the priest class and
is aimed to orient the player of what this class is made
of.

Who is a Priest?
Humans, dwarves, night elves, trolls, undead, blood elf, and
draenei can pursue the priest class.
Naturally, one can expect that the priest is undoubtedly the
best healer in the game. Once you play as a priest, it is
certain that you will be sought for by many parties and
passers-by for what you are meant to be good at – character
healing and support.
However, this does not mean that priests are completely
defenseless in battle. They too are capable of dealing damage
when the need arises, even if such damage does not necessarily
outrank that of a warrior or mage’s, and the direct
manifestation of which is the priest’s Shadow tree, which will
be discussed in the nest section.
Priest Talent Trees
Priests have Discipline, Holy, and Shadow for their three
class talent trees.
The Discipline tree greatly focuses on strengthening the
priest’s buff magic such as Power Word: Shield and Power Word:
Fortitude, which enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of
the Shield and Fortitude buff, respectively. Discipline also
helps increase healing spells to some degree.
As opposed to the Discipline tree, Holy focuses more on the
effectiveness and efficiency of the priest’s healing
capabilities. This helps improve not only healing power but
survivability as well. A wide range of healing spells are in
store for those who follow this talent tree and can even heal
an entire party using area of effect healing such as Circle of
healing. This tree is also what enhances the priest’s
resurrection abilities, which is indeed incredibly valuable to
any party.
Lastly, the Shadow tree is what distinguishes the priest
class in WoW from that of all the other fantasy games. This is
where priests learn most of their offensive spells which are
dark in nature. Spells dependent on the Shadow tree can also
slow down and impale targets to the benefit of the priest’s
party in battle.
While priests are indeed more expected to go with parties
and stay behind to aid those who fight on the frontline, a well
planned priest can also be trained to fend for himself and be a
uniquely powerful WoW character on his own. There are so many
ways to train a priest, and guides focusing on each of which
can be found from many sources.
