World of Warcraft Shaman
Guide
Unlike all the other classes that are
available to the World of Warcraft player, the Shaman
class is a relatively unique class with respect to the
game, as there are very few classes in fantasy games that
offer them or the set of skills they have. So if you want
to have a go at something different, playing a Shaman
could be a good way to go. Here is our World
of Warcraft Shaman Guide.
This guide will give an overview of this unique character
class by providing general input and concepts that would help
the beginner Shaman player.
Who is the Shaman?
Put simply, shamans are a mix of the mage, healer and
warrior classes. They possess a wide range of abilities that
would help them fight either through hand to hand combat or
offensive magic while ensuring the survivability of the members
of his party as well as his own. As such, shamans are often
considered as one of the most versatile and adaptive classes in
the game both in terms of role in parties and adventuring
solo.

This class is available to the draenei, orc, troll, and
tauren races. While racial traits are not really significant in
helping make the shaman effective, one should try to relate his
race with his chosen build, since we’re dealing with a
versatile class.
Shaman Talent Trees
True to its versatile nature of being able to fight, cast
and heal, the three talent trees for the shaman class are
Elemental, Enhancement and Restorative.
For those who want to take the caster role, the Elemental
tree is the way to go. Here shamans can make use of a wide
array of spells to fight their enemies like mages would. The
efficiency of these spells can also be improved with talents
(also found in this tree) that can increase spell critical
damage. Generally, the goal of the Elemental tree is to improve
spell damage output.
On the other hand, the Enhancement tree maximizes physical
damage output for the shaman warrior types. What makes this
build potentially the most powerful than other builds focusing
on other talent trees is that the skills that come with the
damage don’t cost any mana at all as opposed to the mana
dependent castings from the Elemental tree.
Lastly, the Restorative talent tree focuses on a shaman’s
healing abilities. More often than not, shamans who focus on
this tree are least likely to die, no matter how sticky the
situation is. The only downside is that healing doesn’t really
afford a lot of damage, so most players tend to use this as a
secondary talent to the first two.
If you want something you then you may as well try out the
shaman class, especially for those who are playing in roles. By
being someone who can fill in for a missing role that would be
necessary to a particular fight, bringing along a shaman for
support in group fights can in some ways be much better than
getting a priest to come along with you.
